The Melrose Arts and Cultural Association (MACA), thanks to major funding from Comcast, hosted the annual Arts Festival at Memorial Hall on Sat. April 12 and Sun. April 13th.
The Festival, a juried exhibition with all work available for sale, showcased the work of 41 regional fine artists. Once again, the Arts Festival was a great success, with nearly 2000 people attending over the weekend.
The Festival kicked off Friday night with a gala Preview Party, with all exhibitors showing their works, live music provided by Music 101 of Melrose, and fine food catered by Lucy's Lunch Box Cafe of Malden. The Silent Auction of works contributed by exhibiting artists was the most successful to date, and the proceeds benefited the Melrose Arts and Cultural Association.
The Saturday and Sunday hours were very well attended, this has clearly become a popular community event. A childrens activity of creating a Victorian house book was a huge success, 90 children participated and this was popular all weekend long. Music was on two stages, and of special interest were performances on piano by local students.
